The All-on-4 Dental Implant Procedure
Prior to the innovation of All-on-4 dental implants, if you were interested in a dental implant, you underwent almost a year of treatment. Starting with Karmazin Dental extracting the teeth, then allowing for sufficient healing and denture wearing, bone grafting if the jawbone needed mass and more healing, the placement of the dental implants, more healing time with more denture wearing and then finally placing the false tooth on the healed implant. Now, with the new All-on-4 dental implant procedure, the entire process, from extraction to implant placement to fixed teeth, can be achieved in just one visit.
In the past, if you wished to replace a denture with a full arch, six to ten dental implants were necessary to properly support the teeth and provide enough strength. Now, using the latest in technology, the laws of physics and stronger materials to our advantage, when the back implants are placed at angles, their strength is increased, and fewer implants are now required. The two anterior, or front, implants stand upright, and the two posteriors, or back, implants are placed at 45-degree angles. The special placement of these implants allows the All-on-4 to be placed in your mouth that previously would have required a bone graft due to jawbone atrophy.
The denser jawbone that remains in the front part of your jaw offers ideal placement for the implants and the new approach of placing the other two implants at an angle also helps avoid your sinus cavities and the nerve canal. When completed, you now have a new restoration that you do not need to remove, like dentures. Our patient team will carefully place these four titanium implants surgically in your jaw. The simplicity of this procedure helps reduce any discomfort to you. A prototype restoration is placed on the four implant posts with snaps, allowing you to use them like normal teeth while your permanent bridge is custom fabricated at the dental lab.
All on Four Dental Implant Aftercare
Research has shown that placing the dental implants immediately following extractions can improve the outcome of the procedure. Karmazin Dental has seen our patients resume a normal diet in just six weeks after the implants are placed. The more closely you follow your specific after-care instructions from us, the better the results you will experience. Eating softer foods will keep you comfortable. Once the healing process begins, you can gradually introduce harder and more abrasive foods. Once the team at Karmazin Dental has completed your All-on-4 dental implant procedure, and you are completely healed, you will need to take care of your new teeth and your jaw to keep your overall oral health strong.
