Dentures Relines
Relining dentures adds material to the backside of your dentures that hugs your gums, either to compensate for changes in your underlying hard and soft tissue in your mouth or to repair a broken piece of the denture.
Karmazin Dental will often be able to reline your dentures in the office if only a small adjustment is necessary. Bigger changes might involve a dental lab to perform the relining.
Compassionate, efficient, and effective is how to describe the entire team at Karmazin Dental. The skills of each team member are unparalleled in the area. We live and breathe a collaborative approach in developing your personal oral health plan. You will not find a more technologically advanced practice that offers a more relaxing and comfortable setting. Your smile is our priority because we all strongly believe that your smile is a foundational gateway to your personality. It can drive your level of self-esteem and self-confidence. Call, text, or email us for an appointment for an evaluation on the benefits of a denture reline for you. Our number is 605-323-1320 and you can find the entire team at Karmazin Dental, 5701 S. Remington Pl, Sioux Fall, SD 57108, where we have plenty of free parking.
Even if you take excellent care of your dentures, denture relining is normal. The American College of Prosthodontists recommends that your dentures should be relined or replaced every five to 10 years to keep your underlying bone and gum healthy.
Complete or partial tooth loss can be life-changing for our older patients. A set of well-fitting dentures will help improve your nutrition, your speech, your smile, and your confidence.
Your Dentures Will Change with Time
Like all dental appliances, dentures will wear over years of daily use. Dentures are usually made of acrylic, porcelain, or a hard plastic polymer. Natural wear and tear from consistent bite force will cause the denture itself to wear, both on the tooth surface side and on the tissue-bearing side. This pressure over time can lead to cracks or fractures.
Improper care can also lead to denture issues. Only soft brushes and approved denture cleaning solutions and cold water should be used to clean your dentures. If your dentures have become loose, do not attempt to adjust them on your own. Make an appointment with Karmazin Dental to evaluate if a denture reline will be beneficial.

Gratitude: Our patients provide EVERYTHING
Relentless: Clinical Excellence & continuing OUR education
Never Settle: Provide excellence but have the humility to know we will never get there. There is always something more to do, learn and improve upon.
20/20: Complete transparency with our patients and our team.
Integrity to the Core: Do what we say and say what we think.

The Denture Reline Procedure
Denture relining is a simple and affordable procedure at Karmazin Dental that reshapes the underside of a denture to make it more comfortable as it rests against your gums. Relines are referred to as soft or hard, and may be completed either in our office, or in a dental lab.
- Soft Relines- This is often the preferred option simply because they tend to be more comfortable. This is true if you are a new denture wearer with bone resorption still taking place at a more rapid rate, or if your gum tissue is just sensitive. A soft reline can be done in our office by our caring team with a liquid polymer that is layered into the denture to add both depth and cushion. It is a quick procedure, and a secure, comfortable fit is achieved with your collaborative input. The main advantage of a soft reline is how fast you can have your denture completed. A possible disadvantage to the soft reline is that it may require more frequent fine-tuning due to its soft, porous nature.
- Hard Reline- A hard reline reshapes your denture in the same manner as with a soft reline, but it is done with a material more like the denture base. The result is a more permanent reline solution that will last much longer than a soft reline. It too might be done in our office, but Karmazin Dental may recommend the specialist focus of a dental lab because of possible complications with fit and heat transfer of the materials used.
You can see, denture relining is an easy and effective method to reshape a denture when it starts to give you difficulty. If you are experiencing any discomfort with your dentures, ask your passionate team at Karmazin Dental about a possible denture reline, you will be glad you did.
