KARMAZIN DENTAL

Case Study 10

Case Study

Patient presents with goal to keep remaining teeth.  He previously had a treatment plan for crowns on shorter teeth due to grinding. A thorough medical and dental history and clinical exam of teeth and how they fit together was completed.

step one

Even though the loss of initial enamel may have been due to wear or “grinding”, the environment (acid) or “erosion” was outpacing wear since the surfaces of existing tooth were no longer in contact. Patient also mentioned a bad taste in mouth most mornings and throat burn.  I recommended patient see physician for proper screening for acid reflux.

Of note, notice the increased lack of tooth structure on the patient’s right side.  Can you guess which side this patient sleeps on?

step two

After proper diagnosis and treatment for acid reflux, it was decided that Dan wished to restore his damaged teeth and he desired whiter teeth as well.

Ceramic (crown) restorations were completed to cover the teeth 360 degrees to achieve these goals while also protecting from future acid attack and restoring them back to health and function.  That smile speaks for itself!
