KARMAZIN DENTAL

Case Study 11

Case Study

This patient is a dynamic woman.  She is an athlete and plays in a women’s football league.  She presented to me in the office with the chief complaint of her bonding chipping on her front tooth.

She has had previous bonding done on her front teeth.  Growing up, she had undersized lateral incisors which have also had extensive bonding completed in the past.

Her goals:  To stop having the bonding chip away so that she doesn’t have to worry about accidents where teeth chip.  She also wanted her teeth to look fabulous, which we were really excited to provide for her!

We had her come in for a diagnostic appointment where we take tons of photos.  We next take an intraoral digital scan of all her teeth and her bite so we know, and our dental lab knows, exactly where her teeth fit together.  With this information, we communicate with our dental lab exactly where these teeth should FIT IN HER FACE.  These are custom decisions based on each individual patient.  This takes some additional time but the results are worth it.  The lab will send us a diagnostic cast with how we want the permanent teeth designed.  When we prepare the teeth for her porcelain, she will leave with temporary crowns in the exact same shape as the permanent crowns that will be made.  This result is an INSTANT MAKE-OVER.  Super fun!

One thing that was important to me in the case was the CUSTOM CHARACTERIZATION of her porcelain.  I had the dental lab highlight the incisal edges in a frosty white so that the permanent crowns blended in very well with her existing teeth.  This way her new teeth look amazing without having everyone know they are crowns.

This was a classic 4 UNIT anterior case with excellent results and an amazing smile to a deserving patient.
