Smile Makeover
A smile makeover is very similar to full-mouth reconstruction but is mainly focused on improving the appearance of the smile through cosmetic procedures such as dental veneers, composite bonding, tooth implants, and teeth whitening. Smile makeovers are done for several different reasons and are customized to your appearance, treatment preferences, and budget.
The dentist will review your smile and make recommendations to improve the following:
- Alignment and Spacing: Overcrowded, crooked, or misaligned teeth can affect both your appearance and the function of your smile. Depending on what you need, the dentist may recommend orthodontics, aligners, or veneers to improve the overall look of your teeth.

Treatment Process
Generally, there are three main steps involved in a smile makeover: consultation, planning and preparation, and treatment.
- Consultation: Your dentist will start with a thorough exam, including X-rays, to evaluate the condition of your gums, teeth, jaw, and bite. Your dentist will use this information to create a treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and smile goals. After the treatment plan is created, they will walk you through the estimated cost and timeline. Because every smile makeover is customized, the cost can vary depending on the treatments involved and other factors such as anesthesia fees, dentist’s qualifications and credentials, facility fees, location, and medications for before or after the procedure.
- Planning and Preparation: After your treatment plan is finalized, your dentist will take impressions and/or digital scans of your teeth. These are then used to make a temporary model of your teeth so that you can preview the end results before the treatment or custom restoration is completed.
- Treatment: Your treatment will depend on your needs. Some treatment plans include teeth whitening, veneers, dental bonding, crowns, Invisalign, orthodontics, dental implants, or gum contouring. After your treatment is complete, the dentist will make any necessary adjustments to ensure your smile meets your expectations, feels comfortable, and functions properly. Throughout this process, your dentist will check in along the way so that you are always comfortable with the healing process and are happy with the results.
